Tire Rules
- The DNQ Series utilizes treaded Hoosier tires.
- These tires must be free of foreign substances and are subject to lab testing.
Approved Tires
- Left Side: Hoosier treaded 11 x 5.5 x 6, D30 compound
- Right Side: Hoosier treaded 12 x 9 x 6, D50 compound
- All tire numbers must be present.
- Dash Series runs D30 size on all 4 corners.
Cutting & Grooving
- Tires may be grooved, siped, ground, and cut.
- Minimum tread depth: 1/16"
- Stock grooves must be present.
- Measuring off the wheel at 2 1/4", there must be 1/16" of tread depth.
- Sidewall or edge-of-tire shaping or grinding is not prohibited.
Penalties & Fines
- All drivers that enter a DNQ race are subject to tire lab testing.
- Samples may be taken at any time.
- Blue Ridge Labs will analyze all samples, and their decision is final and cannot be protested.
- The serial number on the sample bags must match the paperwork serial number or the test will be voided.
- If a tire is suspected of containing a foreign substance (for example smells/altered), an immediate fine and suspension will be issued.
- The use of hot boxes and heat blankets is not allowed.
Fines & Suspensions
1st Offense
- $400 fine
- $100 covers sample testing
- $300 is added to the next race’s purse
- 190 point penalty (points cannot be dropped)
- 1 race suspension that cannot be dropped in other classes
- DQ from all events participated in on the night of the infraction
2nd Offense
- $800 fine
- 500 point penalty
- Suspension for the next 5 races
3rd Offense
- $1,000 fine
- Indefinite suspension
Tire Claiming Process
- Teams may claim tires and wheels from competitors in the same race.
- Claim pricing:
- 1 right-side tire and wheel = $165
- 1 left-side tire and wheel = $150
- A minimum of 1 and maximum of 2 tires and wheels may be claimed.
- A team may claim tires and wheels once per calendar year.
- Teams may be claimed once per calendar year.
- The series may deny a claim.
Sampling & Risk
- The buyer assumes the risk of any future tire sample failure.
- If the tire is being sampled after a race, the series will place a hold on the money until the sample clears testing.
Pit Stop Races
- If pit stops are required, a 3-lug nut hub must be used.
- The wheel must mount to the 3-lug nut hub.
Body Rules
General Modifications
- Body panels may be modified.
- All modified panels must remain at or below the height of the driver’s shoulders while seated in the kart.
- All modified panels must be securely fastened to the body.
Prohibited Designs
- Wedge bodies are not allowed.
- Wickers or sharp edges on bodywork are not allowed.
Mounting Requirements
- All panels must be flush mounted to a bar.
- Metal panels must be fastened using rivets, bolts, or wire.
- Lexan panels may be secured with zip ties.
USACK-Specific Rules
- USACK karts may fill in as much body area as desired.
- Any right-side panels extending above the driver’s shoulders must be made of lexan or a clear plastic material.
Body Fillers
- All body fillers must be riveted or securely fastened to the body.
Nose Cone Removal
- Teams may remove the nose cone due to damage or rough track conditions.
- If the nose cone is removed, a protective floorboard must be attached under the pedals.
- Karts without a protective floorboard will not be allowed to race.
- Drivers are responsible for their own safety both before and after damage is encountered.
Ballast
Painting Requirement
- All lead or ballast must be painted white for visibility and safety.
Penalties for Loose Ballast
- If any ballast comes off your kart and video evidence confirms it, you will be fined $20 per piece.
Lead Vests
- Lead vests are illegal, unless explicitly granted by the series.
